I qualified from Bristol University in 1993. For 30 years, I was a partner in a mixed practice in Uttoxeter, where I managed much of the day-to-day running of the practice. During this time, I earned the BSAVA Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. In 2020, I joined East Midlands Referrals where I am now clinical lead.

I have a particular interest in neurology, neurosurgery and cruciate surgery. I am an active member of both the British Veterinary Orthopaedic Association (BVOA) and the British Veterinary Neurology Society (BVNS).

Kelly

Kelly

Head Veterinary Nurse

RVN

I am proud to be the Head Veterinary Nurse at EMR, bringing with me over a decade of experience in veterinary care. My journey began in 2011 as a Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN), qualifying as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) in 2014 and since then, I have had the privilege of working in various nursing roles and practice management, each of which has helped me grow both professionally and personally.

I spent some time as Deputy Head Nurse before being promoted to Head Nurse, where I was responsible for managing a fantastic team, overseeing patient care, and ensuring our clinic maintained the highest standards. In my time as Head Nurse, I developed a deep understanding of the importance of leadership, communication, and teamwork in creating a positive and efficient environment.

I am excited to help our practice grow, ensuring that we continue providing exceptional care whilst always being there for our patients, clients, and colleagues.

Juan

Juan

Student Veterinary Nurse

My name is Juan, and I am currently in my third year of studying Veterinary Nursing, a journey that has been both challenging and rewarding. Since July 2024, I have been proud to be a part of the EMR team, where I have gained invaluable hands-on experience in the field. From a young age, I have harboured a deep passion for animals, with a particular fascination for reptiles. This passion has driven me to excel in my studies and to seek out opportunities that allow me to work closely with a diverse range of animals.

Working at EMR has allowed me to develop a wide array of skills, from assisting in medical procedures to providing compassionate care to our animal patients. Each day brings new learning experiences, and I have grown not only as a professional but also as an individual.

Beth

Beth

Client Care Assistant

I studied Animal Care at college and gained experience volunteering at Buckley House Vets in 2014. Growing up with rescued animals inspired me to join the veterinary industry. I currently have 5 cats, turtles and fish! My favourite cat breeds are Ragdoll and Sphynx. At EMR I enjoy assisting clients before, during and after their visits. In my spare time, I rescue and rehome abandoned cats, go fishing, and spend weekends with my family and sister. My future goal is to open my own cat rescue cattery. I’m also qualified as a Nursery Nurse with experience in autism awareness and safeguarding.

Kirk

Kirk

Client Care Assistant

I have a big heart for animals, this has been the case for as long as I can remember since growing up with our family dogs Patch and Jack and even though they have since passed my love for animals has not. Currently I live with my girlfriend and her calico cat Lulu who we both adore. I love seeing all the friendly faces of dogs and cats that walk into the clinic and my favourite part is putting their owners mind at ease knowing their pet is going to be ok with the service we provide here at East Midlands Referrals. I love making things, be it board games, tabletop miniatures or coding my latest computer game. My ambitions are to learn as much as I can about the IT systems used at Medivet so I may further my career down that path and hopefully to one day release a computer game that everyone can enjoy.
